I’ve been reading art magazines and watching art videos

Watching video demo about negative painting techniques. TV mounted in my studio!
I subscribe to these art periodicals -

Thought I was done, but needs some darks
Added dark, but middle “c” too prominent
Final blending and adding in some lights “Hanging On” -

Photos helped me see where I need to add more pastel, adjust color and blend

Used Mount Vision soft pastels for background. Sooo buttery and smooth! Choose a simple background so as not to compete with the petals. -
I had so much fun with the contour drawing and I thought painting with pastel would give me better control with the tulips

Selected Prismacolor pastels on sanded paper
Sketched it all in light then added darks. Worked each petal separately
Tough to get the illusion of curves and all the small shriveled petals
Time to take a break and think about the background -

Easter tulips by my front door
Moved to my studio by the window
Did a contour drawing and a print -
